Worlds Largest Cruise Ship Limo Transfer
Early ocean liners were primarily built for transatlantic crossings, connecting the old world, Europe to the new world, the Americas. The luxury ocean liners had their beginnings in 1920s. Earlier ships had been designed around the huge numbers of steerage-class immigrants coming from Europe to the United States; when the U.S. closed the door on most immigration in the early 1920s, steamship companies ordered vessels that were built to serve middle-class tourists instead, particularly Americans who traveled to Europe for alcohol-fuelled fun during Prohibition.
Today ocean cruising is all about luxury. The new Royal Caribbean International's ‘Freedom of the Seas’ is the world's largest and most innovative cruise liner. At 1,112 feet long, Freedom is longer than 37 double decker buses, and if placed on her side would be taller than Canary Wharf. At 237 feet high, the ship is taller than London's Oxo Tower, and more than half the height of the London Eye. Freedom is 184 feet wide and weighs some 160,000 tonnes. With the number of UK holidaymakers taking a cruise expected to rise by 17 per cent this year, Freedom of the Seas marks a new era for the cruise market
The 160,000-tonne Freedom of the Seas made her debut in Southampton, to prepare for the trip to New York. The vessel, which has more than 1,800 rooms for up to 4,375 passengers; it has replaced the ocean liner Queen Mary 2 as the world's biggest cruise liner, which although six metres longer, is 15m narrower than the Finnish-built vessel. The flagship of Royal Caribbean International, it will be based in Miami, Florida, and will head for destinations including Mexico, Grand Cayman and Jamaica.
