Advice on Seatbelts and Restraints..
Riding in a limousine may feel like a completely new and different experience and it is, and while a lot of the normal rules don’t apply like ‘no food and drink in the car’ or ‘no watching TV in the car’ the most important rule ‘put your seatbelt on’ most definitely still applies in a limousine.
However, many people feel that when they are dressed up in their best clothes and sitting in the back of such a spacious and luxurious limousine that they don’t need to wear their seatbelt and it would ruin the fun of the ride anyway. Well that’s not true because you need to wear your seatbelt when riding in a limousine just as much as you would in any other car, in fact probably more.
While limousine chauffeurs are specially trained to drive their particular limousine and have extensive driving experience, this doesn’t make limousines any safer to ride in, they are just like any other car on the road, capable of being in an accident. Also, because of the extra space and the extra accessories in the limousine, there is less to restrain you even if you’re not wearing a seatbelt and are thrown around in the limo, not to mention the extra things you could be hurt by from a TV to a wine glass.
Also, make sure that if you are riding in a limousine with your small children that they are properly restrained too as not all limousines will have a child seat as standard. While it is easy enough to organise if the limo hire company knows about it, you don’t want to waste time when you are picked up by going back to get a seat for your child.
You should also make sure that you have your seatbelt on in a limousine and you read all of the conditions of the hire and of the insurance as if something happens during your limo ride and you’re not wearing your seatbelt, you may also forfeit any compensation you are entitled to.
